Skyfall

There has been a lot of excitement and hype about this film so I thought it was only right that I go and see it. Having not seen a Bond film all the way through (I know!) I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. From previous extracts, I knew the more recent ones contained a mixture of violence, action and passion.

The traditional theme of opening credits accompanied by a song was brilliant. I love Adele’s song Skyfall; it sounds classy yet haunting and fits the film perfectly. The action scenes are gripping and Craig or rather his stunt man pulls off the most amazing and unbelievable stunts such as jumping off a bridge onto a moving  train, running along a crane, holding on underneath an elevator and riding a motorbike across the rooftops. Those are definitely the most thrilling parts. However, I couldn’t help but feel something was missing. Maybe it was Daniel Craig’s lack of presence as Bond that made me not care. He was okay and the fight scenes were convincing but he could become a little detached at times. Also, the villain lacked conviction and wasn’t threatening enough.

Overall not enough emotions were evoked to make me feel angry or sympathetic. However, it was a good film, the plot was great, the locations were stunning and the action was brilliant. Definitely worth a watch but don’t set your expectations too high unless you know exactly what to expect.
