Much loved pop rock band, Maroon 5 return to the music scene with their new single ‘Maps’. As a fan for many years, I’m not lying when I say I am very excited about their forthcoming album. To be honest I was quite disappointed with their previous album ‘Overexposed’ which I’m sure lots of people will agree with me on. It was over commercialised pop ,except for the brilliant and unreleased ‘Sad’ (give it a listen), which is not what the foursome were known for to begin with.
I quite like the new single ‘Maps’ and feel it is going to lead their album in a new direction. Although it is still pure pop, it has that edge to it that is Adam Levine’s sultry and in my opinion; sexy voice. There is lots of backing as well but those are my only complaints as the lyrics are just as good as any other Maroon 5 song. Some of my favourite lines are:
‘We drew a map to a better place
But on that road I took a fall’
‘All the roads you took came back to me
So I’m following the map that leads to you’
With a catchy beat and the band’s distinct sound, this is sure to be a hit over the summer and I look forward to hearing what the new album ‘V’ brings in September.
