The Pain Of Having A Creative Mind

This must be a problem for all creative people, right? Your brain is overloaded with everything from what you had for breakfast to what you have to do at work that day. It sometimes gets hard to manage a creative mind when it. won’t. stop. whirring! It can sometimes be hard to concentrate even though you ARE concentrating. How weird is that?!

I used to think there was something wrong with me when I thought crazy thoughts when I was supposed to be concentrating or when my brain wouldn’t shut off at night. I now know this is fairly normal, especially for a creative creature such as me and I thought I might just address the problems we all have.

1. Thinking about anything but when you are meant to be getting ready

Oh I find it so hard in the mornings to concentrate on the task at hand. Yes I need breakfast but I’d much rather daydream about what my new blog post should be on then realise I’ve got 10 minutes before I’m meant to be out the door, whoops!

2. Driving on a brain overload

Sounds dangerous but when controlled down to a fine art, day dreaming while driving actually passes the time quicker. I sometimes think of the best ideas whilst driving. Add some music and you’re golden.

3. Trying hard to concentrate

Whether you have a typical working day or are just doing an everyday task, I find it hard to concentrate for a long period of time without getting bored. I enjoy work don’t get me wrong but I do sometimes need a break. We all do. The fact is, our concentration isn’t what it used to be due to technology. Did you know we have a lower attention span than goldfish? This is a proven fact!

4. Holding a conversation whilst your mind is elsewhere

I don’t do this often actually because I’m not that rude but occasionally my mind will wander and I have to really think about what the other person is saying. Just say yes and hope for the best!

5. Spouting out a load of non relevant rubbish

It may make perfect sense to yourself but to others the weirdness that lives in your mind is exactly that. Weird. Sometimes it’s just best to keep these thoughts to yourself otherwise you end up with weird looks. My friends and family and boyfriend have all learnt to deal with it. Strangers not so much.

6. Weird and wonderful ideas

I come up with the most offbeat ideas sometimes. Most of the time they pay off but sometimes just sometimes they just crash and burn. Luckily I have great people around me who have more common sense and put a halt to the craziness. My boyfriend knows this feeling oh so well.

7. Not being able to turn off

This is literally the worst feeling ever when you are tired. I think best in bed and I’m sure this goes for a lot of other people too but anything from the day’s events, conversations I’ve had, food, relationships, my friends, family, blog ideas or even the most random of things such as what would happen if Robert Downey Jr let me stay at his house and interview him happened?! It can get a lot weirder trust me but that’s enough for now.

What weird quirks have you lot got or is it just me? (It can’t be…)

Aw I’m glad you find it relatable. It is annoying but I wouldn’t change it for the world!
