Hello again. It’s been a few weeks but since starting my new job, I’ve been feeling quite drained during the evenings and lacking the motivation to write. However, it’s a miserable, grey Sunday which is the perfect time to curl up and note down some thoughts. Is it bad that I’m looking forward to the winter already? I’m not going on holiday this year so there seems little point in yearning for the hot weather. I absolutely love curling up in bed with chocolate, a mug of tea and falling asleep to a film with my boyfriend beside me. I’ve probably got another two months before that becomes reality though.
I am currently half watching the Olympics and wishing the Gymnastics would come back on instead of Judo which is basically wrestling right? How is that even a sport? Anyway, for this post I’ve put together a playlist of what I’ve been listening to right now.
- Common Emotion – Rudimental ft MNEK
A fairly chilled tune to start off the list. MNEK has got one of those lilting voices that lends itself to a multitude of genres. Combined with dance giant, Rudimental this is one I often pop on in the car or in the background on a lazy Sunday.
2. Don’t Let Me Down – The Chainsmokers ft Daya
I have to admit, this has been on repeat for the past few weeks and I am now growing slightly bored of it but only because I’ve played it so much. Daya (whoever she may be) has a great voice and hopefully we’ll see more of her in the future.
3. Like I’m Gonna Lose You – Jasmine Thompson
Yet another song to add to the list of songs I’d like at my wedding haha. This is such a beautiful song sung by Jasmine Thompson who featured on Felix Jaehan’s remix of Ain’t Nobody (Loves Me Better.)
4. Cool Girl – Tove Lo
I love Tove Lo’s voice so much and her album ‘Queen of the Clouds’ is effortlessly cool. This song is just as cool as her old material and I can’t wait for a new album.
5. Tilted – Christine and the Queens
I first heard of this band when they did an exclusive performance at Glastonbury. Hailing from France, their album ‘Chaleur Humaine’ (meaning Christine and the Queens) was translated into English except for a few words and Titled is one of the may great tracks.
6. 7 – Catfish and the Bottlemen
One of my favourite bands who have two stunning albums. Normally, a band will bring out a brilliant debut album but fail to deliver on the follow up. This is not the case with Catfish who have only got better and really honed their sound in second album; ‘The Ride.’ I also really like Twice but I had to just choose one.
7. Itch – Nothing but Thieves
I’ve actually seen this band live and they were great but I sort of forgot about them up until now. This song could easily be by Royal Blood, another band I love, and I will definitely be listening to more Thieves in the future.
