So, I’ve finally moved out of halls and am now renting a flat with two of my friends. Well actually I’ve been renting since the 1st July even though I haven’t been living there which I’m sure goes for the majority of if not all second years. Being a student is very expensive and I wish I’d known in first year that I’d have to pay over summer. So any fresher’s reading, please take note and save as much as you can (impossible I know!)
Anyway, living in the flat is going to give me a lot more responsibility which I think I can handle but I can tell my mum thinks otherwise! I have learnt a lot in first year though and have definitely become more mature so I’m not too worried about it. Even though I was just living with my friends for a week, I can tell there are going to be disagreements about everything from bills to washing up but we are friends so it all tends to blow over within the day. We do spend every day together so it’s bound to happen.
Southampton is always an eventful place to be if you are a student and the area we are living in is full of them! It seems like the whole of my building from halls has moved into the roads surrounding us which is nice as there’s always someone around that you know. The shops are closer too so no more lugging bags miles back from Asda. (All students will know this pain!) The clubs are closer which I’m not sure is a good thing but I won’t be going out as much anyway since I’m saving for a course trip to New York next year. Excited is an understatement!
Moving back to Southampton, my flatmate and I discovered The Common which is a massive park with lakes and a kids play area. It’s so nice that it’s nearby and now we have somewhere for picnics and BBQs. It also looks great for photography if I could take a decent picture!
I can’t wait to move in for real once the summer is over and start Uni again. I’d kind of like to go right now actually but I have two holidays first. It’s a hard life 😉 I’ll be back soon with how my first week back at Uni goes and a post in the music category about my experience at Reading Festival! Stay tuned!
